Bratton joins Fencing Academy of Philadelphia as coach

The Fencing Academy of Philadelphia is pleased to announce the addition of Coach Ben Bratton. Originally from Queens, NY, Coach Ben is one of the most decorated épée fencers in U.S. history, and has won multiple national championships in Seniors, Juniors, and Cadets. Ben was the Olympic alternate in Men’s Épée at the 2016 Olympic Games. He competed on 8 Senior World Championship teams, winning in 2010 the silver medal in the team event in 2010, in 2012 the first in gold in the history of United States Fencing, and ranking as high as 30th in the world in Men’s Épée.

Ben brings with him over a decade of experience as a youth coach with the Peter Westbrook Foundation, a nonprofit that works with inner city youth in New York City.  Ben founded Fencing 101, an outreach program that brings introductory fencing programs to schools in NYC. He is currently the assistant coach for the varsity fencing program at New York University.

Ben will lead classes at the First Presbyterian Church in West Chester Borough for youth, cadets, and adults starting the first week of March 2022.

Established in 1989, Fencing Academy of Philadelphia is the leading fencing club in the Delaware Valley, throughout the international fencing community for its world-class athletes, coaching, and sportsmanship. In addition to nurturing a passionate team of fencers and teaching coaches, Maître d’Armes Mark Masters and Program Director Coach Lara Masters have developed world champions in épée and saber, Junior World team fencers in all weapons, and foilist Maia Weintraub as an alternate member of Team USA in the 2022 Olympic Games.
